Garsils Family

My oldest sister is amazing for many reasons. She is a kind, caring, a great baker, and an awesome mom! Over the last 4 and 1/2 years she has given my family three more beautiful girls to love. She had her youngest daughter two months ago and a few weeks ago I got to take portraits of her family.

Even though I was working with my family that doesn't mean it wasn't challenging. My two year old niece is a hilarious handful! She is always moving!! With the help of some bribery (an M&M if she sat for a picture) we were able to get some shots to work.

Every shoot is a learning experience!

LIC Flea

Two Saturdays ago my boyfriend and I went exploring. Well, our exploring. We went to the LIC Flea and Food Market. It was awesome! There were so many small local businesses trying to make it happen and it made me so happy to be a part of it all! We got there at the end of the day right before everyone was closing up shop so we got to talk to a lot of the shop owners. We are definitely going back in the near future. Here are some shots of products from a few of my favorite vendors. Check back for more posts on this amazing market that everyone should go visit if they have the chance!

Jump

I thought to start this blog off rolling I would enter into a photo contest. I chose the I Heart Faces photo challenge with the subject Jump. I have no expectations. This is just another step to get myself out there.

This is my friend Stevie showing what she does best. She is a wonderful dancer and beautiful person. I am so lucky to have been able to work with her.

Hello out there!

Hello blogging world! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Colleen. Like most people, I am many things. I am a runner, baker, Aunt, sister, daughter, niece, girlfriend, office manager, New Yorker, Libra, craft maker, volunteer, book lover, and photographer. Some of these roles have been a new addition into my life, but photography has been a constant since I was a little girl with my first pink camera.

I decided to go to college for photography which led me to NYC. I went to Parsons the New School for Design and graduated in 2007 with my BFA. Since graduating, my photography has sort of taken a back seat until recently. Life happened (meaning bills were coming in) and I had to put my focus on making money for awhile. I was still producing work but nothing that I was really proud to share with anyone.

This blog is to change all of that. I feel like it's time for me to put myself out there and share my work. I am hoping that this blog will be a push for me to produce good work on a constant basis and tell you about the wonderful people and places I shoot along the way.
